It is a genuine privilege to welcome you to Fulford Primary School.

From the moment I first visited Fulford, I knew that it was a special place. I was struck by the warmth of the welcome, the strong relationships and the unmistakable sense of family that sits at the heart of the school.

Fulford is a small rural school with a wonderfully big heart. Our children are known as individuals, their successes are celebrated and they are supported through the moments they find difficult. We want every child to feel safe, happy and valued, with a genuine sense that they belong to the Fulford family.

Our motto, “A place to smile, hand in hand, inspiring a love of learning,” captures the school we want Fulford to be. It is brought to life through our values of Respect, Responsibility, Friendship and Fun, which guide how we learn, behave and care for one another.

Our culture is also shaped by six beliefs that influence the way we work and the decisions we make: Trust, Nurture, Growth, Kindness, Support and Teamwork. These are not simply words to display; they are commitments we make to our children, our families and one another. We believe people flourish when they are trusted, nurtured and supported; when kindness sits alongside high expectations; and when everyone works together towards a shared purpose.

At Fulford, we provide an ambitious, inclusive and carefully considered curriculum. We value every subject and want children to develop secure knowledge, important skills and a curiosity about the world around them. Our curriculum is enriched through meaningful experiences, educational visits, sporting and creative opportunities, and learning within our wonderful rural environment, including our Forest School provision.

We recognise that children do not all learn in the same way or begin from the same starting point. Our teaching and wider provision are adapted so that every child can participate, experience success and be challenged to reach their full potential. Alongside academic achievement, we place great importance on children’s personal development, wellbeing, confidence and character, preparing them not only for the next stage of their education but for life beyond Fulford.

Strong relationships between school and home are central to this work. Parents and carers know their children best, and by communicating openly and working hand in hand, we can provide every child with the strongest possible foundation from which to thrive.

Although our website will give you a flavour of life at Fulford, the best way to understand our school is to experience it for yourself. We warmly welcome visits from prospective families and would be delighted to introduce you to our wonderful children and staff.
